2024: Resolutions?

I'm obsessed with the concept being better versions of myself, ultimately to some "best" version that will never come.

So this may seem backwards, but my first resolution for 2024 is

1. fail, make mistakes

Wear stupid outfits

Make poor art

Write cringy poetry

Because failing is learning. Perfection is not about wanting to do well, it's about avoiding shame.

If I fail, that means I tried. And that means I can try again!

2. learn from the people around me

Pay extra attention in lecture

Pick up new makeup tricks from friends

Learn recipes with my boyfriend

3. take care of me and my space

I'll be reading How To Keep House While Drowning by KC Davis and using this to help me maintain my space when depression has its moments

Eating 3 meals a day, brushing my teeth, showers every day

Skincare and hair care!!

4. spark joy

I've been focusing more on negatives lately and while venting is good, I want to focus on more positives

Weekly gratitude posts

Playing games, making music, just being silly!

Tackle mental health areas that reduce my self esteem

Do activities! Participate in events! Go!!! Places!!!

Listen I’m not saying that *I* have the balls to buy a reflective vest and go off on a roadside or retention pond somewhere and start fucking around guerrilla gardening

But I am saying that the past week I’ve driven past many MANY people in reflective vests either doing roadwork or maintaining roadside shrubbery or whatever and the amount of times I considered questioning what the fuck they were doing is zero and the amount of times I would’ve even had the TIME to question what the fuck they were doing is zero

I saw groups of people I saw someone solo I didn’t question it I just figured ‘eh they’re doing SOMETHING and carried on. Depending on the location you pick, anyone who WOULD Karen up and interrogate you won’t even have the time space or ability to
